Mornings are meant to be you-time! I’m such a morning person and I wake up pretty early at around 5am. I love it because it gives me all the time I need to set myself up for a successful day ahead.

But hold on, please don’t let this scare you. No matter what time you get up, you can always benefit from those 10 healthy morning habits that I’m going to tell you about in this post.

I’ve been following a morning routine for years now, before even knowing how beneficial it actually is. As I naturally wake up early, I was sick of staying in bed waiting for it to be time for breakfast, so over time I added more and more things to my morning routine.

Over the years I learned how amazing it is to stick to those healthy habits, how much better a day will be if I don’t start it by scrolling through my emails and social media first thing after I wake up.

Those habits improved my life in many ways. So, I thought I might as well share it with you too in the hopes that it will inspire you to make the most of your morning!

I know it might seem like a lot, so don’t go in with an all-or-nothing mentality. Pick 2-3 habits and gradually increase them until you’ve created your ideal, healthy morning routine.

And always remember, your morning routine has to work for you! What works for me might not work for you. Experiment and see which habits truly help you and maybe you even find habits that I don’t mention here.

So without further ado, below are 10 healthy morning habits I’ve been loving, and I think you might too.

10 Healthy Morning Habits That Will Transform Your Life

Don’t hit snooze

Seriously, don’t! This one is pretty much my biggest tip. I know it’s much nicer to stay in bed. But, for me personally. hitting the snooze button makes me feel groggy, it makes me feel even more tired.

If you really struggle with this, try Mel Robbins’ 5-second rule. Without thinking too much just count down from 5 and get up. Just do it and you’ll thank me later.

Make your bed

I make my bed right after I get up, it helps me get out of that sluggish feeling AND it makes my bedroom look so much nicer and cleaner. Our surroundings play a big role in our well-being. What I mean is that by ensuring your room is nice and clean, you’ll boost your mood so you can start your day with positivity!!

Drink Water

Drinking water first thing in the morning is super important. During the time we sleep, our body loses a lot of water. To rehydrate, we need to drink water. Our body needs water to function! Water is good for you, so don’t forget to drink after you wake up and throughout the day!

Stretch

Be it a quick stretching routine or a yoga flow, stretching in the morning has so many benefits. It helps improve your posture, reduce aches and pains, increases your blood flow, it takes aways that morning stiffness and so much more.

Meditate

If you don’t meditate already, start doing it! Meditation is one of the biggest blessings I found in life. It helped me get control over my mind. By meditating daily in the morning I’m a much calmer person throughout the day. The benefits of meditation are REAL. Research has shown that it enhances self-awareness⁣, improves focus & concentration⁣, controls anxiety⁣, reduces stress…⁣

Get some sun

Exposing yourself to sunlight will boost your energy levels! Your body will know that it’s time to stop producing melatonin, the sleep hormone. Sunshine regulates your circadian rhythm, the more exposure you can get, the better your system will produce melatonin when it’s time to go to sleep.

Move your body

Exercise is important to keep your body healthy. It’s more than a tool for weight loss! It will give you that energy boost you need to power through the day, reduces the risk of disease, releases hormones that make you feel good and much more. Adding a little workout into your morning routine will do wonders, trust me. It doesn’t have to be a run, anything that involves moving your body and getting your heart rates up a bit will do the job!

Eat breakfast

I’m sure you’ve heard it before → “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!” There’s a good reason for that! It’s given in the name, breakfast breaks the overnight fasting period! It fills up your glucose levels to boost your energy levels! It will help you remain focused throughout the day and will help keep your blood sugar levels under control! If you skip breakfast or any other meal, chances are higher that you’ll end up with massive cravings throughout the day!

Journal

I’ve been journaling for a while now but only over the last couple of months did I make it a daily habit. Especially gratitude journaling is so powerful to do in the morning. It makes you feel better about your life and puts you in a positive mood! There are so many ways you can journal, try them out, and see what works best for you! PS: If you struggle with emotional eating, click here and check out some awesome journaling prompts that are meant to help you heal your relationship with food.
