I’ve used to struggle a lot when it comes to balancing my professional path with my personal life. Stress, anxiety, and negative self-talk were my “unwanted best friends”. I’ve never really been a laid-back person, to begin with. I used to worry, get stressed and was quite a negative person sometimes. But things slowly started to get worse during my studies at university.

At first, I didn’t even realize how stressed and anxious I always was. I lost control over it. I often started to cry randomly as worrying thoughts were racing through my head. I felt like I was losing my mind. I tried to numb my anxiety with binge-watching series and stuffing myself with chocolate and cookies during my free time. I was holding all my problems and pain in because I wasn’t willing to let anyone know what was going on in my life.

I began to feel lonely and detached from everyone and everything in my life. I preferred to stay home and missed out on so much. My confidence, which was never strong to begin, nose-dived as a result. I would cancel plans and find excuses as I was afraid that people didn’t really like me. As a matter of fact, I used to believe everybody I met must think I’m weird and unlikeable.

On top of that, I was scared to go out and drink alcohol at a party or go for dinner with my friends. I was worried I’d never lose those extra pounds I hated so much. But at the same time, I numbed my anxiety and stress with food. I was trapped in a vicious cycle. And it’s crazy to think about it know how much it actually changed me. I used to be such a foodie but suddenly became so obsessed with everything I ate. I was scared to gain weight because I was constantly snacking and giving in to my cravings as I couldn’t handle my emotions. I didn’t have a healthy relationship with food anymore.

It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom that I realized, “I had to change how things are going. This is NOT how my life was supposed to go!” At that point, I noticed that my hair was starting to fall off due to the constant stress I was putting myself through, physical and emotional. That was the moment when I finally put down that victim mentality and started to take action on getting my life back on track!

At that time I was already enrolled in a program to become a certified health coach. I’ve always been passionate about being healthy and fit, but my anxiety just didn’t let me. However, once I reached that rock bottom moment, I started to get things in my own hand. I used the tools I learned through the studies and with the help of my own research and trial. I finally managed to better myself. Now I still worry about stuff, of course. But I am able to handle my thoughts so that I don’t let anxiety get the best of me. I’m finally happy with my body, and who I am as a person. I’m able to focus on what matters and I’m not constantly wasting hours on stuff that doesn’t.

I’ve found safety and peace within myself. I’ve found love within myself. I’ve found home within myself and my external reality is just a physical manifestation of the abundance I feel inside!
