Before diving into the 5 tips on how to achieve your health goals faster, there’s one thing you need to know! The first step to achieving your health goals is to actually WANT it. Once you’ve made that decision and once you’re clear WHY you want it, you’ve already conquered half the battle.

But of course, there’s more to it. The hardest part is to stay on track. That’s what this post is all about. Keep on reading to find out more about ways that help finally you achieve your health goals.

5 Tips On How To Achieve Your Health Goals Faster

1. Be realistic.

Even the best intentions end up left behind if you attempt to make drastic lifestyle changes from one day to another. Focusing on unrealistic goals actually makes them more likely to remain wishes rather than actual objectives that bring you closer to your dream life.

Take a hard look at your goal and make sure it’s something you can achieve. Unattainable ones only lead to disappointment and might even push you off track.

If you have a big goal that might seem a bit unrealistic, break it down into smaller more attainable ones.

Having smaller more attainable goals throughout the week is much more rewarding as you’re hitting your goals more frequently.

2. Focus on one habit at a time

Reaching your health goals probably has a lot to do with implementing new healthier habits. That’s where things often become overwhelming as we want to change everything at once.

Rather than trying to implement 5 new habits in one setting, tackle one after the other. When we demand too much of ourselves, we’re more likely to fall off track.

Also, don’t choose an arbitrary amount of time to change that habit. We don’t have a good idea of how long it’s going to take. Different habits take different amounts of time to develop.

Stick to one habit and once you master it, tackle the next. It will prevent you from overwhelm and feeling disappointed and will be much more rewarding.

3. Keep a journal

A journal is such a powerful tool to help you achieve your goals. It forces you to commit to your goals by writing them down.

Often times we don’t end up achieving our goals as they tend to remain more of a desire. Writing them down makes them become more real rather than something that exists in your head.

A journal also allows you to record your progress and helps you analyze your obstacles. You’ll be able to identify where you did well and what you can do better when working on future goals.

When you feel like you’re going off track, it’s a good idea to take look at your journal. Reflecting on the progress you’ve already made toward achieving your goals, provides you with that necessary boost of energy and motivation to keep on going.

4. Prioritize Your Goals

It’s so important to make yourself a priority. Take the time to take care of yourself, time for the action steps you need to take to reach your goals. Try not to let anything that isn’t an emergency get in your way.

Use a calendar and schedule in time for your health goals. For example, you want to start going to the gym more often. Schedule it into your calendar as you would for a work-related task.

Set boundaries and let your loved ones know about your goals. I’m sure they’ll understand that you need some time to yourself.

Ultimately, self-care not only benefits you but everyone around you as you’ll feel more positive, happier, and at ease.

5. Reward Yourself

Rewarding yourself for small accomplishments can go a long way.

We often tend to punish ourselves or feel guilty when we don’t reach a milestone. At the same time, we don’t reward ourselves enough for everything we achieved along the way.

The reason why rewards are so powerful in helping you reach your goals is dopamine, the reward hormone. As one of the feel-good hormones in our systems is it signals your brain when something important is about to happen. It gives you a surge of pleasure as you accomplish the task.

This in turn increases your motivation and productivity. Your brain latches on to the physical evidence that your new habits are worth it, and increases your chances of making the routine a habit.

But be careful not to let those rewards get in the way of your success. Use rewards that are effective. What I mean is that don’t use junk food as a reward for going to the gym, this might hurt you in the long run.

Instead, if you love Netflix, reward yourself with watching an episode or two of your favorite show for example after you’ve exercised for the day.

BONUS: Hire a health coach

The easiest and most successful way to reach your health and wellness goals is by hiring a health coach.

Working with a coach not only helps you reach your goals faster, but you’ll also benefit from extra accountability.

Stop wasting time browsing through articles, watching Youtube videos that all seem to be telling you different things. With all the information out there, it can easily get overwhelming and you might end up losing your motivation.
